The Sellier Bench

is inspired by an ancient gesture:

that of the blacksmith,

plunging molten metal

in a single motion

into a pail of cold water.

 

Hugo Besnier

has shaped it into a sovereign piece,

composed of two twin volumes.

Oak, carved into a closed circle,

is bound by a hammered brass crosspiece,

discreet yet decisive.

Leather straps,

dyed and hand-patinated,

envelop the whole with delicacy.

 

Totemic and confidential,

this bench keeps its promise:

the gentleness of a clear morning

where, at dawn,

the warm scent of leather lingers.

Neither face to face, nor fused,

it offers a quiet proximity -

a space of murmurs,

between two bodies brushing close.
